The original wall plaques were
made of flat slabs of marble that has been engraved
and would be put on a wall for decoration. Our plaques
are made of hydrostone and come with your choice of
any one out of ten different custom faux finishes. The
wall plaques above are for sell and show bathing children,
birds and graceful greek ladies in dynamic positions
created out of the sense of form and line that has made
the Greeks world famous in the field of architecture
and fine sculpture.
The Greeks had plenty of beautiful marble
at their disposal and so used it freely for temples
sculptures, urns and wall plaques. They were not always
satisfied with the cold whiteness of marble, however,
and would paint over both their statues
and their buildings on occasion. Some statues have been
found with the bright colors still preserved, but most
of them lost their paint through weathering and are
plain as stone now. |
