M Diana Bust

Diana of Versailles, also known as the Greek goddess artemis, statue was sculpted by Leochares in the 4th century BC and is currently at the Vatican in Italy. The goddess Artemis was commonly worshipped in groves and forests, and her connection with human fertility probably developed from her role as mother and protectress. This statue represents the Greek goddess of hunting and archery. Artemis was the twin sister of Apollo, one of twelve primary Olympic gods.
