Torso of David The Michelangelo sculpture was started in 1501 and the original is currently is on exhibit at L'Academia, Florence, Italy. The sculpture was commissioned by the city of Florence and was completed and presented by Michelangelo in 1504. His David sculpture is considered to be one of the greatest classical masterpieces and was sculpted from a massive single block of marble during the renaissance period.
