This Nike angel sculpture is also known as the winged victory of Samothrace. For the Greeks, the goddess of Victory (Nike) was a beautiful young woman endowed with angel wings. This exceptional sculpture was made on the island of Samothrace and was set overlooking the sculpture garden sanctuary of the gods and later symbolized success at sea.
